Section 3: Scenario-Based Questions

These scenarios help us understand how you think, prioritize, and handle the unique challenges of our fast-paced environment. Please answer thoughtfully - there are no "right" answers, but your reasoning matters.

Scenario 1: Ship vs Perfect
You've built a plugin that works well and solves the user problem. All the features work, it sounds good, and beta testers love it. However, while reviewing your code, you notice the architecture could be cleaner and more elegant. The monthly ship date is in 3 days. What do you do and why?
Scenario 2: Balancing Priorities
You're deep into expanding the neural cello project - making great progress on training new models. Then a bug report comes in about last month's Strings Warmth plugin. It's not critical (the plugin still works), but it's affecting some users in specific DAW configurations. You have 2 weeks until the next monthly tool needs to ship. How do you handle this situation?
Scenario 3: Platform Maintenance Reality Check
The product delivery system has a bug preventing some users from downloading their purchases. It's not audio work - it's Python/Flask debugging in our web platform. You estimate it'll take 4-6 hours to fix properly. You're currently in the middle of developing this month's MIDI tool, which is due in 10 days. What's your approach?
Scenario 4: Collaborating with Minimal Specs
Marc comes to you with an early product concept: 'I'm thinking about a tool that helps composers add more punch and presence to their brass sections when working with samples - something streamlined that handles common processing needs. What do you think?' This is an initial conversation, not a final spec. What questions do you ask? What's your process for turning this concept into a shippable product?
Scenario 5: Product Vision and Initiative
We're planning next month's product launch. Marc asks: 'What should we build? I'm open to ideas - what would make the biggest impact for our composers right now?' How do you approach this? What's your thinking process for proposing a product concept?

Section 5: Writing Assessment

Writing skills matter to us. We're looking for someone who can express themselves clearly, in simple language, and with authenticity. Take your time with this answer.

Section 6: Logistics

Note: If selected for the next round, we'll provide audio samples and detailed instructions via Loom video.

Section 7: Video Introduction

Create a Loom video (2-4 minutes) introducing yourself and covering:
  • Why this role interests you
  • A product you shipped that you're proud of
  • What excites you about our mission to democratize film scoring

We're looking for authentic, spontaneous people to work with. Feel free to let your personality shine through! We value authenticity, spontaneity, and personality over perfection. Don't read from a script, don't use slides - just be yourself and have fun with it.

(Please turn the camera on to full screen, don't read off the screen, don't make a PowerPoint presentation. Have FUN with this!)

You will NOT be considered if you don't submit a Loom video.

By submitting this application, you confirm that the information provided is accurate and consent to us processing your data for recruitment purposes.
